Walk into your kitchen. You will see a selection of amazing appliances. They do so much for you and ask very little in return. They improve your life by reducing the work load in the kitchen. There are things that these modern marvels are not made to do. Do not attempt any of these procedures at home.
You probably have an electric hand mixer. These work well for mixing things like cookies and cake batter. There are certain recipes that should be considered taboo with your mixer. One of them includes mud pies. Normally this would not be a problem in the average kitchen. However, there may be small children concerned. Kids make anything possible. Remember that, as you tend to their whereabouts.
Do you like your microwave oven? They are a good way to heat up and defrost many food items. You probably do not know how these modern marvels work. If you are interested in their inner workings, it is best to research them online. You can also travel to your public library for information. Do not take these units apart. The insides can contain hazards. One of these hazards is a high voltage transformer. High voltage means high chance for electric shock. There is also radioactive components. When you hear the word radioactive, it should set off an inner alarm. Use microwave ovens for food. Do not use them for vocational or entertainment purposes.
You may have a lovely toaster in your kitchen. Many people do. These handy appliances will toast bread, muffins, and special pastries. From time to time, they may become jammed. A piece of bread or muffin may become lodged in them. What do you do? At first glance, you may wish to reach inside and fix it. That is not your first move. Do not grab the butter knife either. That can give you a serious shock. Unplug the toaster. That should always be your first move. It seems elementary. Yet, people still get injured this way, every year.
Do you have a cordless handheld vacuum? These are great for cleaning up spills. Make sure that the spills do not contain liquids. This may also seem elementary. However, things like this have been known to happen.
Here is another word about mixers. You may have a lovely Kitchen Aid hand mixer on your counter. Make sure that it does not find its way into a sink filled with water. This may seem simple. However, it frequently happens. Just because you have shock saver plugs, does not mean that you should bet your lives on them.

Kitchen appliances are amazing inventions. However, they have their limits. Keep them out of water. Always unplug them when working on them. Make sure that you know where the kids are, at all times.
