Microwave Size

What Did We Do Before Combination Microwave Ovens? by Dominic Donaldson
When the first men sparked a flint by banging two stones together or rubbing a couple of sticks into a mixture of dry leaves and grass, I bet they were wishing for an easier way to cook their food. They also had to trek the countryside, stalking beasts twice their size to get the food to cook but that is beside the point. In this day and age we merely lift our ‘fresh kill’ out of the fridge then whack it in the combination microwave ovens and eat it in front of Eastenders.
With the current economic climate there are many people fearing for the worst, claiming that soon we will not be able to afford food and there will be no electricity left to power our combination microwave ovens or our televisions, so the question begs what did we do before combination microwave ovens? The answer is relatively obvious however many of the sociological issues we have facing us today can be answered by looking at the aforementioned appliance’s invention.
The fast food culture is synonymous with jumbo fizzy drinks and deep fat fried chips however these are not the only ultimate offenders. The fast food industry is still present in ready meals from manufacturers packing them with salt and fat content. It is not just the food that is cooked in the combination microwave ovens, it is the fast food mentality that has driven many Western families from the dinner table to the sofa.
The truth is that combination microwave ovens are not essential for survival but they are a useful appliance for heating day old meals, or eating on the go. They are one of the most important inventions of the 20th Century and work under the preface of cooking food from the inside out. Combination microwave ovens work as you might expect from microwaves which can be absorbed by water, fats and sugars.
Microwaves work from a certain frequency of microwave which is formed by converting electricity. This then causes the atoms in the food to move rapidly causing heat. If you microwave something for too long or microwave something that is not receptive to the microwaves you might notice one of two things happening. The microwave might explode or the object inside might explode. This is because the heat has become too great.
Combination microwave ovens are an essential accessory however not a necessity. In a commercial kitchen they are a necessity however in the event of the predicted apocalypse most people with the remotest sense of self preservation or common sense should still be able to continue.
Dominic Donaldson is an expert on combination microwaves and contributes regularly to trade publications on the subject.
