I punctured a line on my freezer and clinched it back shut after it depressurized, is it safe to keep usingit?

Its a dorm sized refrigerator with a little freezer in it. I was chipping off ice and hit it.
I plugged it in after i clenched the hole shut and it seems to be cooling, but the compressor hasn’t shut off.
