Cooking Coffee Over A Fire Pit

If you’re like me, summer is the time you wait for. Summer involves leaping for the swimming pools, or out on the golf course, the 4th of July, family picnics and reunions, softball games, and perpetual fun for the entire season. The summer provides a time for families and friends to enjoy more time together, which is one activity that we all appreciate. Despite the fact the cement of summer parties in the backyard is considered to be cold drinks and barbecuing, there are people who show up for the party and would prefer something warm to drink.

As the summer sun begins to darken, the chill in the air may prompt your visitors to look for the warmth of a blanket. It is times like this that require the knowledge and experience necessary to provide your friends and family with something warm for their insides. A great way to please your guests is to utilize firepits to make coffee.

To do this you will need your fire to be at the coals stage. That means that there are almost no flames apparent in the fire. There will be a perfect amount of heat being emitted by the glowing red coals with which to create your coffee. It is key that the coals are kept hot enough to heat the water for your coffee, otherwise, you may never get your water to the appropriate temperature.

A percolator is the most effective tool to employ when making coffee over a fire pit. You can find one at any outdoor store or big box retailer. When your fire has reached the coal stage, remove the lid, grounds basket, and basket stem from the percolator. Fill the percolator three quarters of the way full with cold water. You’ll discover that using cold water, rather than warm, gives a lot more flavor to your coffee. Place the stem, with the grounds basket atop it, into the percolator. For every instance of 6 ounces of cool water, put one large tablespoon of coarse ground coffee into the grounds basket. Put lid back on and place the percolator on a grill in the warmest region of the pit.

As soon as you hear the water boiling up through the stem, investigate the time. Five minutes after you hear the coffee start to boil, remove it from the heat. Let it simmer for about five more minutes. Remove the lid, basket, and basket stem. As soon as the basket and lid are removed put the lid back on the coffee pot. Scrumptious coffee is now all set for you to serve. Your proceeding party will be more fun if you implement your fire pit to make coffee. Then just sit back and accept the compliments!
