Try Alka seltzer tablets. Put 4 Alka Seltzer tablets in the coffee maker, fill with water and let it go through the brew cycle. Run the cycle again with fresh water before you brew any coffee. If the coffee maker is really badly scaled you may have to repeat – but it does work. Also denture cleaner tabs do the same thing.
